Newcastle vs Liverpool Betting Odds: Premier League

This is a straightforward bet where you have to back one of three possible outcomes in Monday’s match:

• 1: Newcastle wins
• X: Draw
• 2: Liverpool wins

As seen above, UK sportsbooks use fractional odds. The denominator is the bet amount, and the numerator is the expected return. For example, Newcastle’s odds for Monday’s match are 7/3. This means that bettors can win £7 for every £3 for correctly predicting Newcastle’s win. Your betting amount, also known as the stake, is returned if your bet is successful. So, the total payout becomes £7+£3, i.e., £10. 

Similarly, a successful bet on Liverpool yields £19 for every £20, and correctly predicting a draw pays £11 for every £4.

Upon simplifying the fractions, for every pound, you receive £2.3 for correctly predicting Newcastle’s win, £2.75 for predicting a draw, and £0.95 if Liverpool wins.

If the denominator is bigger than the numerator, it’s referred to as “short odds” because the bet pays less than a pound. Similarly, if the numerator value is bigger, it is called “long odds” because they pay out more.

In betting, odds and probability are inversely related. So, if the betting odds are low or short, the probability of that outcome may be higher. Similarly, if the odds are long, that outcome is considered less likely.

Let’s say a team ranked first on the Premier League table plays against a team ranked 15th. The 1st team will be expected to win the match, and a lot of people might bet on it. In this scenario, bookmakers offer short odds on the strong team and long odds on the weak team to encourage bettors to bet on both.

Double Chance

This is a variation of the 1×2 market, where bettors can pick two outcomes out of three:

• Newcastle or Draw: This bet loses if Liverpool wins.
• Newcastle or Liverpool: You lose if the game ends in a draw.
• Draw or Liverpool: This bet loses if Newcastle wins.

Note that since there is a 66% chance (2 out of 3) of winning in this market, your returns will be lower. When an outcome is considered more likely, bookmakers lower the odds to even out the market.

Draw No Bet

This is yet another variation of 1×2. Here, bettors back only one out of two outcomes, and the option of a draw is removed. So, you only bet on either team to win. In case the match ends in a draw, bets are refunded. 

Your probability of winning in this market is 50% (1 out of 2), so your payout will be lower. However, this is a good market if you want a safety net of a bet refund upon a draw.

Handicap Betting Odds

When two teams appear to be unevenly matched, bookmakers add a “handicap” or a disadvantage for the stronger team. This is done to encourage bettors to bet on both teams. The handicap adds points to the weaker team’s final goal tally. The same number of points is deducted from the stronger team. Bettors are free to pick how many points they want to add/subtract to the final score by adjusting the betting line on 7bet’s betting page.

For example, you select a handicap of (+/-) 0.75 and the final score is 1–0. After adjusting the handicap, the final score will be read as 0.25–0.75, meaning bets on the losing team win.

For this fixture, bettors are free to select handicaps between (+/-) 2 to (-/+) 1.5. The final score gets adjusted as per your chosen number.

Here are two examples of how positive and negative handicaps work:

• Newcastle (+0.5) / Liverpool’s (-0.5): Newcastle has a small advantage here as Liverpool needs to win with at least a 2-goal difference to overcome this handicap. For example, Liverpool wins 1–0. After applying the handicap, the final score becomes 0.5–0.5, giving a win to Draw bets. If the match draws 1–1, bets on Newcastle win after adjusting the score to 1.5–0.5. However, if Liverpool wins 1–3, the final score becomes 1.5–2.5, and bets on Liverpool win.

• Newcastle (-1.5) / Liverpool (+1.5): This is the opposite scenario, where Liverpool has the advantage and Newcastle has the disadvantage. Newcastle will need to win with a 4-goal difference to overcome this handicap. A 2-goal margin win like 3–1 is calculated as 1.5–2.5, giving a win to bets on Liverpool. A 3-goal win of 3–0 gives a win to Draw bets (1.5–1.5) and a four-goal margin win like 4–0 gives a win to Newcastle bets.

Both Teams to Score (BTTS Odds)

In their last 20 matches, Newcastle scored goals in 14 fixtures while six remained goalless. During the same period, Liverpool scored goals in all matches except one.

Use these statistics to guide you whether to pick “Yes” or “No” in the Both Teams to Score (BTTS) market. As the name suggests, this bet only looks at one aspect of the game – whether both teams will net the ball at least once during the match. The final winner or the score doesn’t matter here. “Yes” bets win as long as the final score is at least 1–1. It can be 1–2, 3–1, 4–2 – your bet will still win.

On the other hand, “No” bets win where there is a zero in the final score like 1–0, 2–0, 0–0, etc. If either one or both teams fail to score, the “No” bets win.

Bettors should also consider both teams’ clean sheet records in this market. A clean sheet means the team’s goalkeeper didn’t allow even a single goal to slide in. In their last 20 fixtures, Liverpool has kept three clean sheets and Newcastle has kept six.

Goal Total (Over/Under) Odds

This market is better known as Over/Under or O/U. Here, punters predict the combined goal total. For example, the match ends 3–1. The final goal total is four.

On 7bet, the goal total betting line can be adjusted from 1.5 to 4.5. For this fixture, the betting line is fixed at 3.5 goals combined. You are free to adjust the O/U line higher or lower as per your analysis. If you believe the goal total in this match will be lower than 3.5, select the “Under” bet. Here, final scores like 2–1, 2–0. 1–1, 3–0 win as long as it is under 3.5. Your bet wins even if the match ends in a draw of 1–1, 0-0.

Similarly, select “Over” 3.5 if you believe we will see a high scoring match.

In their last 10 matches, Liverpool has averaged 2.9 goals per match. Its highest goal tally during this period was five (against Stoke City in a Friendlies match).

Newcastle averaged 0.9 goals in the same time. It failed to score any goals in six of the 10 matches, and its highest goal tally during this period was two.

Correct Score Odds

Predict who will win the match and what the exact score will be at the final whistle. For example, predicting a precise 1/0 win for Newcastle pays £14 for every pound, and correct score bets on Liverpool pay £10 for every pound.
