Progress of the Premier League So far

Thrilling derbies, epic goals, and classic world-class football, the league’s progress has been nothing short of exhilarating to the core. Without further ado, let’s look at the quick season recap.

Liverpool’s 12-Point Lead Might Secure Them the Title

Liverpool have been formidable this season, and coupled with Arne Slot’s unique style of play, they have only lost one match so far. After their latest 3-1 victory against Southampton, Liverpool clinched a 12-point lead, making it difficult for runner-up Arsenal to catch up. Fans speculate that it’s only a question of when and not if the Reds will win the title.

In fact, all they will need to bag the title are 16 points out of 27 that are up for grabs in the remaining nine Premier League games for the team. Their recent win over Chelsea boosted Arsenal’s points, but even if they win all the remaining matches, they will still not be able to beat Liverpool.

Speaking of Chelsea, the club has had a rocky season and their recent away match threw a light on the importance of Cole Palmer. His absence from a third domestic away game was quite heavy for them as they couldn’t score a single goal against Arsenal. In fact, four of Enzo Maresca’s men were made to play out of position, which led to a weak offensive performance.

Forest’s Unshakable Resolve for a Spot in the Champions League

Nottingham Forest have emerged as the dark horse this season and they currently occupy the third position in the league table. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have secured some of the most remarkable wins with a total of 54 points.

Just nine matches remaining to determine whether Forest will qualify for the Champions League next year. This looks likely, considering their mindblowing performance so far, and fans also have high hopes for the club.

Race for Europe Is Still On

Meanwhile, the eight teams occupying the positions from four to 11, just have eight points between them. The struggle is still underway as the clubs covet a spot in the Champions League. After a lot of challenges, Manchester City are solemnly sitting in the 5th position after Pep’s men lost against Forest and drew with Brighton

However, they could be under threat as Fulham and Villa will also fight tooth and nail in the remaining matches to bridge the gap between the points. Even if it seems unlikely now, nothing can be said for sure, as we already saw how this season is packed with surprises.

Not to forget, EFL Cup victors Newcastle are brimming with confidence and are just behind City on the table. They can upset the odds by entering the top four if they keep up with their winning performance after the international break.

Man Utd and Spurs Are Struggling Just Above the Bottom of the Table

Manchester United and Spurs have faced a challenging campaign so far, and they need to come up fresh after the break. The remaining two months can prove to be quite crucial for both clubs, which are, unfortunately, near the bottom half of the table.

However, despite the team form, Bruno Fernandes is a rising star of the Red Devils. Time and again he has proved his efficiency with genius scores and assists even in the darkest days that Man Utd have been facing.

Wolverhampton’s Ongoing Battle to Avoid Relegation

Before the break, Wolves were safe in the 17th position and stayed out of the relegation zone, and they likely will. Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton are not so lucky as they are in the bottom three. Their dire state might continue if they don’t pull up their socks after the break.

On the other hand, the last draw between West Ham and Everton has thrown light on Graham Potter’s need to bring forth his tactical ideas into the team. The slow progress has been quite frustrating for fans who expect a better performance after the break.
