Champions League Round of 16 Fixtures Preview

The draw has pulled out some of the juiciest fixtures that will light up the league this year. Let’s look at some of the key match-ups that are currently the talk of the town.

PSG vs Liverpool: Clash of the Biggest European Titans

Leaders of the Premier League and Ligue 1, will come face-to-face in an epic clash of tactics. Luis Enrique’s men have three back-to-back Champions League victories. Meanwhile, Arne Slot’s men have displayed a top-notch form throughout the league phase with just one loss.

Liverpool boasts a balanced team form—with a player like Salah who has displayed pure footballing genius in recent matches—which gives them a slight edge even if PSG might have a home advantage in the first leg. However, this does not rule out a powerful player like Dembele who has had quite an impressive season and is sure to put on a tough fight against the English club.

Real vs Atletico: A Promising Madrid Derby

This Madrid rivalry promises a game full of Spanish footballing brilliance. Griezmann and Morata’s counterattacks, accompanied by their strong defence give Atletico a fighting chance. However, the lethal Bellingham-Vinícius-Mbappé trio and their streaks of pure masterclass have slightly tipped the odds in their favour.

Bayer vs Bayern: Classic German Action

Bayern are the leader of Bundesliga with remarkable performances from Kane and Musiala. While they hold a better chance over their opponent Bayer, Xabi Alonso’s men could still turn the tables and emerge as dark horses of the tournament.

Other Fixtures

Barcelona will clash against Benfica and might go for the win as they have already defeated this opponent in the league phase. While Arsenal have a strong team, their win against PSV can prove slightly challenging, but not impossible. The other English club, Aston Villa will face Brugge and aim for victory. The other two fixtures—Feyenoord vs Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund vs Lille—also promise a lot of action, drama and of course, beautiful goals.
