Poland Breaks 48-Year Dry Spell to Reach the Final

Poland finally returned to the men’s volleyball final after a drought of 48 years at the Paris Olympics 2024, defeating the United States. Their exceptional attacks enabled them to win three out of five sets at the South Paris Arena 1.

The first four sets produced a tie, creating a thrilling atmosphere among the spectators. But the last tie-breaker set proved in favor of the Polish with a 3-2 (25-23, 25-27, 14-25, 25-23, 15-13) victory.

“I’m very happy to know that we’ll get a medal here in Paris, but I want gold. And I think our moment has come to take it,” commented Wilfredo Leon, the Polish outside hitter.

The Hosts’ Victory Keeps them in the Race to Defend Olympic Title

“In the final, we need to do as we did today. We’ll prepare well and try to deliver another performance like this,” said the Frech outside hitter, Earvin Ngapeth, after the semi-final.
