How to Watch Premier League Live in the UK

Under the current Premier League TV deal, 267 live matches are broadcast in the UK each season, split between Sky Sports and TNT Sports. Sky Sports shows a minimum of 215 exclusive live Premier League matches, accounting for the majority of televised fixtures. TNT Sports broadcasts the remaining 52 live matches, including the exclusive Saturday lunchtime kick-offs.

TV Channels and Subscription Packages

To watch Premier League matches on Sky Sports, fans typically need a Sky TV subscription with the Sky Sports package added. Sky Sports is also available through NOW, while subscribers can stream live matches on the go using the Sky Go app.

TNT Sports is available as an add-on through providers such as Sky, Virgin Media and EE. Fans can also stream TNT Sports content through HBO Max, which replaced discovery+ as the service’s streaming platform in 2026.

Streaming Platforms

Instead of committing to a long-term TV contract, fans can choose from several flexible streaming options. NOW is Sky’s streaming service and one of the most popular ways to watch the Premier League. A NOW Sports Membership provides access to all Sky Sports channels on a rolling contract, while a Day Membership is ideal if you only want to watch a single match or a weekend of Premier League action.

TNT Sports is available to stream through HBO Max, which became the service’s official streaming home in the UK in March 2026. Fans can subscribe without taking out a traditional TV package and enjoy live Premier League matches, UEFA competitions and other TNT Sports coverage on a monthly subscription.

Free-to-Air Matches and Highlights

The number of free-to-air Premier League matches in the UK remains very limited. Most live matches are available only through subscription broadcasters, although selected fixtures may occasionally be shown on free-to-air television.

The BBC remains the official free-to-air highlights broadcaster. The iconic Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2 programmes provide extended highlights and expert analysis from the weekend’s fixtures. Fans can also watch highlights on BBC iPlayer and access additional digital clips through BBC Sport.

International Streaming Options

The popularity of the Premier League has hit such global levels that during the last season, the number of overseas rights topped domestic rights to make history. For all the fans outside the UK, here’s where you can catch the Premier League live.

Premier League for USA Viewers

NBCUniversal holds the exclusive U.S. broadcasting rights for the Premier League. Matches are shown across NBC, USA Network and Peacock throughout the season. Selected marquee fixtures are broadcast on NBC, while many other matches air on USA Network. Peacock streams exclusive live matches, NBC simulcasts and on-demand replays.

Mobile & On-the-Go Viewing

While watching matches on the big screen is the ideal experience, it isn’t always possible. That’s why the Sky Sports app lets subscribers stream live Premier League matches on their mobile devices. Even without a subscription, the app provides free match highlights, live scores, breaking news and personalised updates. Sky Mobile customers can also stream eligible Sky TV content without using their mobile data allowance.

NOW is another flexible option for streaming Sky Sports without a long-term contract. Sports Memberships are available on a daily or monthly basis, while the optional Boost upgrade adds Full HD streaming, higher frame rates and simultaneous viewing on multiple devices.

TNT Sports subscribers can stream Premier League matches through the HBO Max app, which replaced discovery+ as the service’s streaming platform in 2026. Depending on the subscription plan, viewers can enjoy features such as 4K UHD, HDR and Dolby Atmos, together with full live coverage of TNT Sports content.

Lastly, the official Premier League app is an excellent companion for fans. While it does not offer live match streaming, it provides live scores, detailed statistics, fixtures, results, league tables and the Matchday Live experience throughout the season.

Audio Broadcasts & Radio Options

For fans who prefer to follow the Premier League through live audio commentary, the main options in the UK are BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT, which share the league’s official live audio rights. Both broadcasters provide extensive live match commentary via AM/FM and DAB radio, as well as through their websites and mobile apps.

BBC Radio 5 Live covers many of the weekend’s biggest fixtures, while local BBC radio stations also provide commentary for selected clubs where rights permit. talkSPORT broadcasts Saturday lunchtime fixtures, Friday and Monday night matches, plus selected midweek games and additional Premier League coverage.

Audio commentary is an excellent option for supporters who are travelling, commuting or have limited mobile data. Together with the BBC Sounds and talkSPORT apps, it allows fans to stay connected with the action wherever they are.
