The first leg of the semifinal ended with a 5–4 win for PSG. The Parisians were leading 5–2 till the 58th minute before the Bavarian men responded with two goals in the next 10 minutes. However, they were unable to maintain the momentum to reach a victory.
But while PSG won, their star defender, Achraf Hakimi, was forced off the field because of an injury. He will be unavailable for the send leg clash.
