Cheltenham Tuesday Odds

In many ways, the Cheltenham Tuesday betting odds work the same way as other horse racing fixtures. Early odds start pouring in as soon as the initial runners are announced. Some betting platforms will even offer odds before the participating horses are publicly known. While it might be tempting to place your wager early on, horse racing odds tend to fluctuate a lot, so waiting until the final declarations of the runners is advised.

Horse racing offers a diverse betting market. The most popular and easy to follow ones are the Win, Forecast, and Tricast markets. Below we will review in detail how they work when betting on Cheltenham Tuesday races.

If you are interested in betting on the Cheltenham Festival races, here you will find the odds 7bet offers.

As with any straight win betting market, in horse racing Win is directly tied to the outcome of the race. However, compared to a team sport where only three outcomes are possible (the home team win, the away team win, or a draw), in horse racing the number of outcomes depends on the number of runners.

When betting on a win market, you are trying to predict the horse that will come first to the finish line and win the race. If your prediction is correct, you will get a payout proportional to the offered odds and your stake. The mechanism behind the bet is suitable for beginner punters as well as seasoned bettors.

Forecast & Tricast Odds

Two other highly common Cheltenham Day 1 odds are the forecast and tricast betting markets. They are still aimed at the outcome of the race but the mechanism behind them has significant differences.

When placing a wager on a forecast betting market, you cover two horses instead of one. Your bet states that horse A will come to the finish line first and horse B will be the second to finish the race. If it is a straight forecast, they need to finish the race in the exact order you specified. However, if you are betting on a reverse forecast, they can come to the finish line in a reverse order, i.e. horse B will be the first and horse A will be the second to finish the race, and this outcome will still count towards your wager.

The tricast betting market works in the exact same way, but now you add a third horse to the equation. If you are betting on a straight tricast, the horses need to come to the finish line in the exact order you defined in your bet. For combination tricast, you only need to name three horses. They can finish the race in any combination as long as all of them are placed in the top three.

In both forecast and tricast, if any of the horses misses the top two or top three, your wager will be lost.

For these betting markets, you are dependent on the performance of not one but two (or three) horses. Naturally, this increases the risk of making a wrong prediction. To balance out this risk, you are offered higher odds, which means your potential payout will also be higher if your wager wins.

Cheltenham Tuesday betting doesn’t stop there. There are more interesting markets that offer punters an opportunity to diversify their betting habits.

Each Way Betting

Think of this bet as a 2 in 1 deal. First, you are placing a wager on a horse to win the race. In addition to that, you are placing another wager on the same horse to be placed in a winning position. Your stake will double. But here is the value this bet brings. If the horse of your choice does come to the finish line first, you will get a double payout (win + placement). If it doesn’t win the race but is still placed within the top two to top four (depending on the number of runners), you will lose your win wager but will get a payout for your placement stake.

Match Bets

For this market you choose two horses from the list of runners and bet which one of them will finish the race in a higher position. If your prediction is correct, you will get a payout. Keep in mind that neither of these two horses need to win the race or even be placed for this bet to work. The winner is determined by the positions they occupy in relation to each other.

Non-Runner No Bet (NRNB)

After the official selection of runners is declared, trainers can still withdraw their charges on the morning of the race. The non-runner no bet market provides a certain level of insurance for cases like this. If you placed your wager on a horse that was later declared a non-runner, your stake will be returned to you in full.

In standard ante-post betting, if you bet on a horse before the official announcement, your stake will be lost if it is declared a non-runner later. The NRNB bet is offered as a promotion by bookmakers to safeguard your early bet.

Betting is only available to participants aged 18 years and over. Please bet responsibly. BeGambleAware.org
