Crystal Palace won the 2025 FA Cup but were kept out of the Europa League, because their part-owner, John Textor, also controlled Lyon. UEFA bans clubs with a shared owner from the same competition, and Lyon had the better league finish. Palace were moved down to the Conference League and won it.
That trophy brings them to Lyon’s Groupama Stadium, in Décines-Charpieu just outside the city, for Matchday 2 of the league phase. Kick-off is 17:45 BST on Thursday 15 October.
Handicaps, BTTS and every other bet are explained below; for Thursday’s other fixtures, see our Europa League betting page.
Lyon vs Crystal Palace – Betting Odds
The Lyon vs Crystal Palace betting odds make Lyon slight favourites. The draw has the highest price, 5/2, so it’s rated the least likely result.
1X2 Betting Odds
1X2 is a bet on the final result. 1 is a home win, X is a draw and 2 is an away win, so here Lyon are the 1 and Crystal Palace the 2. On 7bet, Lyon appear as Olympique Lyonnais, just so you know.
In the UK, odds are usually written as fractions. The right-hand number is your stake (what you put down) and the left-hand number is your profit, so at 2/1 every £1 wins £2, and you get the £1 back too. Evens (1/1) pays exactly what you bet. Anything lower, like 1/2, is odds-on, meaning you win less than you bet. The lower the price, the more likely the bookmaker thinks the result is.
Here are the Lyon vs Crystal Palace odds for the three results:
| Lyon win (1) | Draw (X) | Crystal Palace win (2) |
| 9/8 | 5/2 | 2/1 |
Lyon here are the favourites, yet 9/8 is still above evens, so the bookmaker gives them slightly less than a 50% chance of winning. £20 on Lyon would bring back £42.50 in total, compared with £60 on Palace and £70 on the draw.
Double Chance Odds
Double chance lets you cover two of the three results with one bet. In effect, you’re betting against the one result left out. 1X covers a home win or a draw, 12 a win for either team, and X2 a draw or an away win.
Because the bet wins more often, its prices are much lower than in the 1X2 market. It’s a handy way to bet on an underdog, as you win even if they only draw.
The Lyon vs Crystal Palace odds for double chance are:
| 1X – Lyon or draw | 12 – Lyon or Crystal Palace | X2 – Draw or Crystal Palace |
| 7/20 | 1/4 | 8/13 |
All three are odds-on. At 1/4, the 12 option, which only needs somebody to win, is the lowest price on the page: £20 on it would make just £5. Lyon or draw would make £7, and Draw or Crystal Palace £12.31, as Palace are rated less likely to avoid defeat.
Handicap Betting Odds
Handicap betting changes the score on paper and exists to make a game more interesting by giving a team a handicap or an advantage in terms of goals.
One team gets extra goals, shown with a plus sign (+), while the other, normally the favourite, has goals taken away, shown with a minus sign (-). You then apply the handicap to the final score, and the adjusted result decides your bet. For a team on -1, a 2-0 win becomes 1-0 and still wins, while a 1-0 win becomes 0-0, which returns your stake.
Half-goal lines can’t end level, as nobody scores half a goal: a team on -0.5 has to win, while a team on +0.5 only needs to avoid defeat.
Quarter-goal lines like -0.25 and +0.25 are two bets in one. Your stake is split in half: one half goes on a 0 handicap, which is refunded if the match is drawn, and the other half on -0.5 or +0.5. A win for your team pays both halves, and a defeat loses both. Only a draw splits them: on -0.25 you get half your stake back and lose the rest, while on +0.25 you get half back and the other half wins.
| Lyon -0.5 | Crystal Palace +0.5 |
| 21/20 | 4/6 |
| Lyon -0.25 | Crystal Palace +0.25 |
| 4/5 | 13/15 |
Both Teams to Score (BTTS) Odds
Both teams to score, or BTTS, is a bet on whether each side scores at least once. Pick Yes and you need goals at both ends, whatever the result: 1-1, 2-1 and 2-3 all count. Pick No and you need at least one team to finish without a goal, as in 0-0, 1-0 or 0-2.
Only the 90 minutes plus stoppage time matter, and own goals count too, going to the team that benefits.
At 6/11, Yes is odds-on, so the bookmaker expects both sides to score.
| Yes | No |
| 6/11 | 5/4 |
Goal Total (Over/Under) Odds
Over/Under, or total goals, is about how many goals are scored by both teams together. The bookmaker sets a line (which you can change), and you bet on the real total ending up above or below it.
Lines end in “.5” on purpose: no match finishes with two and a half goals, so there’s always a clear result. With 2.5, the most common line in football odds, Over needs three goals or more, as in 2-1, and Under needs two or fewer, as in 1-1. On 7bet, you can drag the slider to other lines, and the prices change with it.
On the 2.5 line, the Lyon vs Crystal Palace odds are:
| Over 2.5 goals | Under 2.5 goals |
| 3/5 | 6/5 |
Over is odds-on at 3/5, so the bookmaker expects three goals or more: £20 on Over would make £12, and on Under £24. That matches the BTTS market, where Yes is odds-on too.
Correct Score Odds
Correct score means predicting the exact final score. Both numbers have to be right, so a 1-1 bet loses if the match ends 2-2, even though you called the draw.
With so many possible scores, each one is unlikely, so even the most likely score usually pays well above evens. On 7bet, you pick the score with the plus and minus buttons beside each team.
These are the Lyon vs Crystal Palace betting odds for four popular scores:
| 0–0 | 1–1 | Lyon 1–0 | Lyon 2–1 |
| 13/1 | 16/3 | 17/2 | 15/2 |
