Athletics Olympics 2024 Winners: Golden Athletes and Other Medallists

A whirlwind of emotions, shattering of world records, performances that will go down in history and the rise of new heroes, we saw it all at the Athletics Olympics 2024. This sport created history as 27 countries won gold in athletics.

Three countries made their debut on the Olympic gold medal table after Dominica’s Thea LaFond, women’s triple jump champion, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, men’s javelin throw champion, and Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, women’s 100m sprint champion, all took gold for their proud nations.

The Paris Summer Games were immortalised in Botswana as the country secured its first-ever Olympic medal after Letsile Tebogo’s golden victory in the men’s 200m sprint. 26 athletes made headlines after winning multiple medals in Paris.

USA’s Gabrielle Thomas (gold in women’s 200m, 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m), and the Dutch athletes Femke Bol (mixed 4 x 400m gold, women’s 4 x 400m silver, women’s 400m hurdles bronze) and Sifan Hassan (women’s marathon gold, 5000m and 10,000m bronze), all three became treble medallists with their stunning achievements.

After the USA’s golden victory in the men’s 4 x 400m relay, the 16-year-old Quincy Williams broke the record for the youngest-ever Olympic gold medallist in athletics. Three world records were also broken at the Games this year. The USA marked a new record of 3:07.41 in the mixed 4 x 400m relay.

USA’s megastar Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone broke her own world record by completing the women’s 400m hurdles in an astonishing 50.37 seconds. Mondo Duplantis of Sweden broke his own world record for the ninth time and won gold for his 6.25m attempt in the men’s pole vault final.

What a rollercoaster of victories and records it has been for athletics at the Paris Olympics 2024! Now, let’s race into the medallists’ section where we have covered all the events.
