Korea

The Korean team is a force to be reckoned with in this Archery Olympics 2024. Debuting in the 1984 LA games, this team has won 43 medals, of which 27 are gold. However, this year there are doubts over a podium finish as the Korean team’s performance has been subpar in the pre-Olympics and preceding tournaments.

Chinese Taipei

The Chinese Taipei team for the Paris Olympics 2024 has a strong lineup. In the past, they’ve tasted success in team events. This year, however, the country is hoping to bag some individual medals in Paris. Even though Chinese Taipei has some skilled archers, they haven’t been able to reach the podium in individual events.

Women’s Archery Team

Korea

While the men’s recurve line-up is predictable, the women’s selection shocked many, as their entire contingent is inexperienced (barring one). World No. 2, Lim Sihyeon, will lead the team of rookies. The last Olympic winner, An San, was eliminated during the trials. Lim is the reigning Asian Games Champion and is expected to bag a medal at the women’s recurve event. Surprisingly, rookie Jeon Hunyoung has been chosen as the team captain.

PR China

PR China’s women’s team has delivered some impressive results, but they haven’t been consistent in their results. They have won a total of 3 Olympic medals (only 1 Gold). Recently, Team China won gold and bronze medals at the 2024 Hyundai Archery World Cup, so they are the leading favorites for the Archery Olympics 2024.

France

The French Olympic team is heading to their Archery home ground with a youthful team with one player competing at just 17 years of age (Batiste Addis). On the other hand, Vallandot, a 34-year-old French archer may be playing her last event. They have a long victory-laden history. However, they are lagging in recent events. They haven’t secured any meads since 1972, this year around, the team is much stronger and may surprise everyone.

Top Archers to Watch at Archery Olympics 2024

The Archery Olympics 2024 will begin on 25th July and conclude on 4th August. The event comprises five events: two individual competitions for men and women, two team competitions,  and a mixed team competition.

To bet right in Archery means following the top players who have the zeal to follow through and snatch some wins. Here are the top 5 archers to watch for the Paris Archery Olympics 2024;

  1. Marcus D’Almeida: World No.1 archer from Brazil, Marcus won bronze at the Archery World Championships 2023. This will be his third Olympic appearance. He’s just 26 years old but is the top contender for the Men’s Recurve category. 

 

  1. Mete Gazoz: European Championship holder and World Champion of 2023, Mete Gazoz has consistently won at global events. The Turkish player was also the gold medallist at the Tokyo Games. But the Olympics have a different dynamic every time. This is where Gazoz’s strong mentality, focus, and composure will bring results, under pressure. 

 

  1. Kim Je-deok: At just 17 years of age, Korea’s Kim Je-deok won the mixed team competition in Tokyo. Nicknamed Archery Genius, Kim Je-deok got the highest score in the 2020 Olympics but has relatively less experience in individual-level Olympic competitions. Still, he is expected to give another peak performance at the Paris Olympics.

 

  1. Katharina Bauer: Currently standing in the 10th position in the Recurve Women category, Katharina has been collecting medals from different tournaments since 2022. A consistent performer who clearly understands the stakes at the Olympics and is expected to up the game by a notch.

 

  1. Casey Kaufhold: Team USA’s Casey first competed at the age of 17 at the Tokyo Games, where she failed to make a mark. However, she has made tremendous progress and is currently ranked No. 1 by World Archery. She last won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2021. Casey has recorded significant improvements in international events.
