Like every year, Wimbledon has delivered some high-octane action on the grass courts. The game now continues with quarter-final rounds scheduled for today and tomorrow. Two American players, Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz, have advanced to the Wimbledon 2024 quarterfinals. The last time two Americans reached the quarterfinals of this Grand Slam was in 2000.
Defending Wimbledon champion and No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz is scheduled to compete against American No. 12 seed Tommy Paul on Tuesday. On the other side of the bracket, American Taylor Fritz (No. 13) is set to play against No. 25 Lorenzo Musetti on the centre court on Wednesday, July 10.
Novak Djokovic secured a victory over Holger Rune with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, advancing to his 15th Wimbledon quarterfinal. This win also marked his 60th Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance, making him the first man in tennis history to achieve this milestone. Djokovic will face off against No. 9 Alex de Minaur on Wednesday, with the victor advancing to play the winner of the match between Musetti and Paul.
The top contenders and pre-tournament favorites in the women’s bracket have been eliminated. Women’s No. 1 Iga Swiatek was defeated in the third round, along with defending Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova. No. 2 seed, American Coco Gauff, was beaten in the fourth round by fellow American Emma Navarro.

Wimbledon 2024 Quarterfinals: Predictions
The top-seeded player in the tournament, Jannik Sinner, will face Daniil Medvedev. Sinner has been in excellent form, winning six consecutive sets to progress through the third round and Round of 16. Based on his recent performances and consistency, it is likely that Sinner will defeat Medvedev and secure a place in the semifinals.
Carlos Alcaraz, seeded third, is scheduled to compete against Tommy Paul. Alcaraz has showcased an impressive performance in the tournament, defeating Ugo Humbert in the Round of 16 after a hard-fought comeback victory in five sets against American Frances Tiafoe. Despite Paul’s solid performance, he is unlikely to overcome the in-form Alcaraz. So, looks like the Spaniard has an advantage in today’s match.
Taylor Fritz, seeded 13th, is set for a face-off against Lorenzo Musetti, seeded 25th. Musetti has had a smooth journey so far, not encountering any seeded players. Both players are vying to reach their maiden Grand Slam semi-finals. However, it looks like Fritz has the upper hand. He has strong gameplay and experience and leads 2–1 in head-to-head. Fritz is expected to reach the semis, putting an end to Musetti’s fairy-tale run.
Novak Djokovic is set to compete against Alex De Minaur in one of Wednesday’s quarterfinal matches. Djokovic’s favorable bracket and exceptional form position him as the clear frontrunner in this encounter. The Serbian player did not encounter a seeded opponent until the Round of 16, where he convincingly defeated the 15th seed, Holger Rune, in straight sets. Despite De Minaur’s skills, it is improbable that he will be able to prevent Djokovic from advancing to the semifinals.
