Conor McGregor – MMA Record Before the 2024 Comeback

There was a time when he was the biggest name, not just in the UFC but also in the whole world of fighting and probably even sports. Ireland’s finest – the Notorious Conor McGregor is a phenomenon that has both die-hard fans and total haters with no in-between. He was must-see TV in his prime, crushing opponents in the octagon and press conferences alike. However, he hasn’t had a professional MMA bout since 2021. With the comeback fight against Michael Chandler looming ever closer, let’s look at Conor Mcgregor’s MMA record and his most memorable wins and losses.

MMA Record as of May 2024

  • Win No – 22
  • Wins by KO – 19
  • Losses – 6

Conor McGregor has been active in professional MMA since 2008. His debut win against Gary Harris only took the Notorious 8 whole seconds. He is known to be a counter-striker and a powerful knockout artist, having high-profile fights ending very quickly in his favour.

However, he is best known for his antics and trash-talking. His pre-fight faceoffs are always must-see TV, with McGregor putting on a show and never shying away from controversy.

As an MMA fighter in UFC, the Irishman has been ranked as the world’s highest-paid athlete in 2021, earning a whopping $180 million United States dollars, per reports.

UFC on Fuel TV – Debut Win Against Marcus Brimage

It didn’t take long for fans of fighting to notice the talent of this fighting Irishman from Dublin. In April of 2013, Conor had his first UFC bout on UFC on Fuel TV. He faced a decent opponent in Marcus Brimage. The Bama Beast went up against a fighter from Ireland who had a respectable record elsewhere but was unproven and largely unknown in the UFC. Once the bell rang, it only took Conor a minute and a few seconds to trundle his opponent and win by TKO. His charisma was on full display and many people fell in love with his style right there and then.

UFC 178: Conor Beats His Rival Dustin Poirier

In total, Conor McGregor has faced Dustin Poirier 3 times. He won once in 2014 and lost twice in a row in 2021. This time, let’s focus on the winning side of Connor McGregor’s MMA record and look back to UFC 178 when he won in the 1st round by TKO against his American rival. Back then, no one thought this would become a very long and bitter rivalry, yet it did.

UFC 194: 13 Seconds and Out – Conor Hammers Jose Aldo

All great fighters face doubters and adversity and have to overcome hard challenges. As Conor was already gathering traction as a rising superstar, a challenge came in the shape of Jose Aldo—someone with a DECADE-LONG streak of not being defeated. Yup, from 2005 until 2015, no one could give Aldo the business. So, the Irishman came in as an underdog with a mountain to climb. Yet, it only took him 13 seconds to KO Jose Aldo in UFC 194. To this day, it’s still one of the fastest knockouts in MMA history.

UFC 202: Avenging the Loss vs Nate Diaz

Conor has a history with most of his opponents. Due to his antics, he tends to get his opponents on sort of like a vendetta path against him. The same happened with Nate Diaz. Right after his blitz win against Aldo, McGregor faced off against a much less popular yet formidable Nate Diaz in UFC 196 and lost.

A rematch was scheduled to happen in 5 months, and in UFC 202, Conor got revenge and won via majority decision.

UFC 205: Champ-Champ Conor McGregor defeats Eddy Alvarez

In November of 2016, Connor was at the top of his game. It was apparent as he seemingly dominated Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205. It only took the Notorious one and a half rounds to deliver fight-ending blows and have a TKO in the 2nd round. Even though there were lots of praise around the Irishman before this bout, you could say this victory solidified McGregor’s status as a top-tier fighter. It also introduced the term “champ-champ” to the MMA world as he became the first UFC fighter to hold two titles – lightweight champion and featherweight champion.

UFC 229: Conor Taps Out vs Khabib

Conor has had high-profile wins and losses, too. Few fights were as anticipated as Khabib vs Conor in UFC 229. The undefeated Chechen Khabib Nurmagomedov went up against the Irishman, who was still a top-calibre fighter even though he hadn’t had a fight in UFC for 2 whole years at that point.

So, for bookmakers and experts, Khabib was the heavy favourite. Turns out that this was the right prediction as he famously forced the Notorious to tap out, later on taunting him about this very incident.

UFC 264: Broken Leg Equals Losing

In the 3rd instalment of McGregor vs Poirier, the situation was very intense. Conor had been on his usual trash-talking tour, saying very mean things to throw the American off his game and get fans excited about the fight. At that time, Conor and Poirier had a 1-1 H2H record, and this 3rd chapter in UFC 264 seemed like the one for all the marbles. The fight became a grappling match, and somewhere in the mix, Conor’s leg broke. Doctor stoppage forced the fight to end in his defeat, leaving questions about his future as a UFC athlete.

As it stands, Conor Mcgregor’s MMA record is 22-6, but maybe it will change soon.
