The wait is finally over! The fight between the former undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson and YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul is happening this Friday, 15 November (early morning of Saturday, 16 November in Europe) at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Initially the bout was scheduled for 20 July, 2024, but it was postponed due to Tyson’s ulcer flare-up.
While this fight will be considered a professional bout, there is no title on the line. Tyson and Paul opted to make the fight an exhibition one, meaning it will not be recorded on their professional records regardless of the outcome.
The entire event will be exclusively broadcasted on Netflix.
Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson: Meet the Fighters
If you have been living on this planet for any number of years since 1985, Mike Tyson probably needs no introduction. Throughout his career as a professional boxer, he became a recognizable figure not only among the sports fans but also in modern popular culture.
Dubbed undisputed heavyweight world champion, he conducted 58 fights, winning 50 of them, 44 of those with a knock-out. Known for his ferocious style, he was nicknamed the Baddest Man on the Planet later on in his career.
The title of the undisputed world champion means that he held world titles from all major organizations recognized by each other and the International Boxing Hall of Fame all at the same time. Tyson stopped professional fighting in 2005.
Jake Paul started his path to fame together with his older brother Logan when they began making Vine videos. He later switched to YouTube, and despite being often criticized for creating controversial content, managed to gather a considerable following.
Paul’s boxing debut took place in 2018 against another YouTuber Deji Olatunji, with Paul defeating Olatunji through technical knock out. Until now, Paul has held 11 fights, winning 10 of them, 7 with a knock-out.
As Mike Tyson was born in 1966 and Jake Paul was born in 1997, the age difference of 31 years between the fighters in the upcoming match is the largest in professional boxing.
