Newmarket Races Fixtures 2025 | Racecourse Meeting Dates

The Newmarket Racecourse was first founded in 1636, but the history of horse racing in Newmarket goes as far back in time as the 16th century. Also, in 1671, it was here that King Charles II became the only reigning monarch in British history to ride a winning horse.

As it is a flat racecourse, Newmarket races run from April to October. Newmarket is only slightly behind Ascot Racecourse, hosting 9 Group 1 out of Britain’s 36 flat races during the season.

Newmarket is often called the headquarters of British horseracing. It hosts the biggest number of the country’s training yards as well as various horse racing organisations. Two out of Britain’s five Classic Races also take place in Newmarket, namely the 1,000 Guineas and 2,000 Guineas.

In this article you will find a complete list of Newmarket races fixtures for 2025 along with highlights for their key races and events of particular interest.

Tips for Racegoers

Newmarket races fixtures 2025 will keep you busy throughout the entire summer horse racing season, with a meeting almost every weekend in the second half and some of the most prestigious races and championships.

When planning your visit to Newmarket Racecourse, remember that the majority of the meetings take place during the summer months, so weather will be a factor you need to be aware of. Don’t forget to check the forecast and make corresponding preparations.

You will be able to buy tickets at the Newmarket Racecourse official page at The Jockey Club. As they start selling well in advance, sometimes before the previous season is even over, take care of the arrangements while they are still on sale. Depending on availability, you might be able to buy admission tickets at the gate, but they will be a bit more expensive than the regular price.

The venue includes restaurants that work both with prior bookings and accept walk-ins. Each of them offers a unique experience of flavours and exquisite atmosphere.

Newmarket Racecourse doesn’t impose a strict dress code, allowing visitors to wear anything as long as they feel comfortable and their best self. However, some restrictions still apply. While guests are welcome to dress as simple or as fancy as they prefer, outfits deemed vulgar or derogatory will not be allowed on the grounds. Racecourse guests are also advised not to wear the kits of their favourite team to avoid unnecessary confrontations.

You can get to the racecourse by various means of transportation, including trains and buses. If you prefer to drive, there are various parking facilities available: free, premium, and accessible. Check in in advance to see what your options are for each specific race day.

The majority of races at Newmarket start in the afternoon, while some start in the evening. But as it is customary for many large racecourses, the gates will open several hours in advance. We recommend arriving as early as possible to avoid the hassle and being late for the race. You can enjoy the atmosphere, explore the grounds, and watch the horses as they prepare for the race.
