Flat horse racing enthusiasts are marking their calendars once again, as the Qatar Goodwood Festival is getting ready to start their 2026 edition. Universally called the Glorious Goodwood, this year it falls between Tuesday, 28 July and Saturday, 1 August and will traditionally be conducted at the Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester.
The Goodwood Racecourse opened its gates for the first time in 1801. Today it operates in the flat season and hosts a number of notable races, including 3 of Britain’s 36 annual Group 1 flat races, namely, the Sussex Stakes, the Goodwood Cup, and the Nassau Stakes, all of which take place during the Goodwood Festival.
This year the Goodwood Festival will open with The Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap Stakes as its first race, while The Coral Handicap Stakes will close the entire event.
The feature races for each day are: The Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes for day one, The Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes for day two, The Qatar Nassau Stakes for day three, The King George Qatar Stakes for day four, and The Coral Stewards’ Cup for day five. The Sussex Stakes also headlines the entire event.

Betting at the Goodwood Festival 2026
At 7bet, we offer a wide range of horse race betting markets both for domestic and international events.
Please note that odds for the Goodwood Festival 2026 will be available closer to the event date.
Betting at the Goodwood Festival 2026 includes various horse betting markets, with some of the most popular ones being:
- Win: By placing a wager on a horse you try to predict the winner, i.e. the outcome of the race. If your prediction is correct, you will be eligible for a payout proportional to the offered odds and your stake size. This bet is easy to understand and recommended for newbie bettors.
- Place: Here you place a wager on a horse if you think it can finish the race within the winning top but aren’t sure about the first place. The winning top ranges between two and four places, depending on the total number of runners. Two factors lower your risks here: one, you don’t need to predict the exact place the horse takes, just the fact that it will finish within the winning top, and two, a strong horse has more chances to be placed.
- Each Way: This bet allows you to place two stakes on the same horse, one for it to win and the other to be placed in the same race. While your stake doubles, if your horse wins, you will get payouts on both your stakes. If it misses the first place but is placed, you will lose the win stake but will still get a payout on the place stake.
- Forecast/Tricast: You bet on the winner and the second place (forecast) or the winner, the second, and the third place (tricast), however both bets require a single stake. In the straight version of both bets the horses need to come in the exact order you specified for them, otherwise you will lose your wager. In reverse forecast and combination tricast they can come to the finish line in any order if they are still within the bet places. If any of the horses falls behind, you will lose even if others finish as predicted.
Always remember to gamble responsibly and treat betting as a form of entertainment and not means for financial gain.
