Tottenham: Analysis and Team Preview

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2024–25 season has been a rollercoaster. They are currently in 14th place with 10 wins, four draws, and 16 losses. This gives the Spurs a total of 34 points in 30 matches.

Injuries have been a big reason for the Spurs’ inconsistent performance. Center-back Radu Drăgușin suffered a cruciate ligament tear in January. He has been sidelined until October 2025, leaving a gap in the defense. Star strikers Dominic Solanke (7 goals, 3 assists) and Richarlison (2 goals, 1 assist) have also struggled with injuries.

Currently, striker Brennan Johnson leads the team with 14 overall goals and nine in the league. Midfielder James Maddison has also netted nine goals in the league. The defense, however, has struggled, conceding 44 goals in 30 matches.

In their recent transactions, Timo Werner has rejoined on loan from RB Leipzig, and Kevin Danso has been brought in from Lens to strengthen the defense.

Despite their struggles, the Spurs have had some good moments on the field, including a 4–0 victory over Manchester City and a 5–0 win against Southampton in December. They have made it to the Europa League quarterfinals, where they’ll be facing Eintracht Frankfurt on 11th April. The Spurs were knocked out of the EFL Cup semifinals after a 0–4 loss to Liverpool. They are also out of the FA cup after losing in the fourth round to Aston Villa (1–2).

Southampton: Team Analysis and Preview

Southampton was relegated after finishing last in the 2022–23 season. They made a comeback this season after earning a promotion through the Championship playoffs. However, the Saints have struggled immensely and are back to being at the bottom of the table. They are positioned 20th with a record of two wins, four draws, and 24 losses in 30 matches.

The Saints removed manager Russell Martin mid-season in December 2024. He had guided the team back to the top flight; however, following a crushing 0–5 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, he was sacked. His successor is former Croatian footballer Ivan Jurić. He is facing an uphill battle, as the team has managed to secure just one win in ten league matches since his joining.

Striker Cameron Archer is the Saints’ standout player as the season’s overall top scorer with five goals, while Paul Onuachu leads in the Premier League with four goals. In the transfer market, the Saints have secured eight new players to add depth to their roster.

Southampton will need at least 20 more points in the remaining eight matches to have a fighting chance at avoiding relegation.
