Eurovision 2024 – Past, Schedule, What Time Does Eurovision Finish, Host City, and Contest Stages

The 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest takes place in the Swedish city of Malmö. Last year, Loreen won the contest with her song “Tattoo” and became a two-time Eurovision champion. This year’s scheme is identical because the musical event consists of three stages. We already witnessed the First Semi-Final, and only two more ESC phases are left – Semi-Final 2 and the Grand Final.

Sweden and Ireland have prevailed in the competition a record of seven times. Nevertheless, Ireland is the only country to win three straight Eurovision contests (1992, 1993, and 1994). In addition, Spain, Luxembourg, and Israel are the three nations that have won the tournament on two consecutive occasions.

  • Spain – 1968, 1969
  • Luxembourg – 1972, 1973
  • Israel – 1978, 1979

Lastly, we must mention Serbia as it is the only nation to win on its debut, and it occurred in 2007.

Eurovision 2024 – Schedule

The majority of the contest’s characteristics remained the same. Yet, there have been a few changes and returns to the Eurovision. At the end of last year, in December, the EBU declared that 37 countries would participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Luxembourg is the one country that returns to the contest for the first time since 1993.

Regardless, Romania, which participated in the 2023 contest, will not be on the contenders list this time. Mentioning the Eurovision 2024 nuances, the First Semi-Final ensued on the 7th of May, and the Second Semi-Final will occur on the 9th of May. However, many people do not have an answer to the most essential question – what time does Eurovision finish? The answer is straightforward because the Grand Final’s date is the 11th of May.

Eurovision 2024 – Host City

Malmö is a coastal and the third-largest city in Sweden. The ones that decide to travel to this beautiful area will locate the Øresund Strait, whose bridge links Denmark and Sweden. The population of Malmö reaches 344,000 people, and it is one of the most culturally diverse cities with almost 180 myriad ethnicities.

Malmö was a fishing town in the 13th century, but throughout the centuries, the city has evolved into a significant trading area. Its blend of architecture and modern innovations makes it one of the most attractive cities to travel to now. It offers many green zones and unforgettable landmarks such as Turning Torso, Ribersborg Beach, Stortorget or the famous Castle of Malmö.
