India vs South Africa T20 Series Preview and Odds

India and South Africa last faced each other at the finals of the T20 World Cup earlier this year. India won (176/7) the closely contested match.

The two teams are set to face each other again in a four-match T20 international series. The first match will be played on Friday, November 8, at the Kingsmead in Durban. The next three matches are scheduled at St George’s Park (Port Elizabeth), SuperSport Park (Centurion), and The Wanderers Stadium (Johanessburg), respectively.

It is the first time that both teams will play a four-match series in this format of the game. India last played a T20 international series against Bangladesh and won all three matches to complete a whitewash.

The Proteas have played 17 T20 international matches this year and have been victorious nine times. They faced Ireland in a two-match T20 international series in their last outing in this format. The series ended 1–1 as Ireland defeated South Africa in the second game by 10 runs after posting 195 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Team India: Analysis and Team Preview

Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian side in this series. A couple of new faces have been added to the squad for this series. All-rounder Ramandeep Singh and pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak have received an India call-up for the first time.

Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar and Nitish Reddy were a part of the Indian side that faced Bangladesh last month but have found a place in the squad this time. They will be traveling to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Axar Patel, Yash Dayal, and Avesh Khan have also been picked in the squad. Axar was the second-highest run-scorer for India in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 when India faced South Africa. Avesh last played a T20 international match against Zimbabwe in July this year. Dayal is yet to make his T20I debut for India.

Mayank Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Riyan Parag are not in the squad due to injuries.

South Africa: Analysis and Team Preview

Aiden Markram will continue to lead the Proteas in this series. Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, and David Miller will play a T20 international game for the first time since featuring in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee, who were on a conditioning break, have returned to the squad. Mihlali Mpongwana and Andile Simelane are the two uncapped players in the final 11. It is the maiden T20 international call-up for Mpongwana. Simelane was a part of the squad that traveled to the United Arab Emirates in September this year.

Both Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada have not been picked in the squad. Ngidi will be on a conditioning break of six weeks. Rabada has been rested for the series considering the upcoming Test series that are lined up.
