The 2025/2027 ICC World Test Championship has started only recently but is already in full motion. It is currently going through its first stage that includes three series, all to be completed within the summer of 2025: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh, Anderson – Tendulkar Trophy (England vs India), and Frank Worrell Trophy (West Indies vs Australia).
The second series, known as the Anderson – Tendulkar Trophy, will see the Indian cricket team tour England. They will play five games from 20 June to 4 August. The second Test match of the series will take place on 2–6 July 2025 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. The match will start at 11:00 am local time.
Among all types of cricket competitions, Test cricket is considered the ultimate form of the game. One match can last up to five days, demanding high skills and endurance from the players. The biennial championship sees the best nine men’s cricket teams compete for the world champion title. Throughout two years they will participate in various scheduled series that bring them points for each win, loss, or draw. At the end of the two year period, two teams that have the highest points won to points contested ratio (PCT) will challenge each other in the finals.
So far, the world has seen three editions of the ICC World Test Championship. Neither England, nor India have won the champion title yet. India reached the finals twice, but came second both times, losing the final game to New Zealand the first time and to Australia the second time. England hasn’t made it past the league stage yet.
The final result of the Anderson – Tendulkar Trophy will be quite important for both teams. While they still have a long journey ahead before the finals, boosting their scores early on will help them climb to the top of the league table.
England Team Preview
England played a one-off Test match against Zimbabwe on 22–24 May 2025 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, where they won by an innings and 45 runs.
Their 2023/2025 ICC World Test Championship can’t be described as very successful. With 11 games won and 10 games lost, they found themselves in the fifth position of the league table, which can be considered a downgrade. In the both previous editions of the tournament they occupied the fourth position by the end of the league stage.
Despite this, they started the 2025/27 ICC World Test Championship season with a bang. Opening the season with the first Test match in the Anderson – Tendulkar Trophy series against India, England won by 5 wickets. The game took place at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.

However, in the last season they finished third, disqualifying from the finals.

Venue Spotlight: Edgbaston Cricket Ground
The second Test match of the India tour of England series will take place at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Home to the domestic Warwickshire County Cricket Club and its T20 team Birmingham Bears, it hosts all types of cricket events: Test matches, One Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals.
Edgbaston was established in 1882 as an addition to the developing suburb of Birmingham. It hosted its first Test game on 29–31 May 1902 when England and Australia met on the field in the Ashes series.
Today Edgbaston is considered one of the best cricket grounds in England, with many agreeing that it is easily the second best after the Lord’s. It has the capacity of 25,000 seats and includes several facilities besides the main field: an indoor cricket centre, a visitor and learning centre, a museum and library, and Colts’ Ground which is used for practice and minor matches.
During the 143 years of its existence, Edgbaston has seen its fair share of outstanding sporting events. Some of the interesting facts in its history include:
- The very first match of Warwickshire County Cricket Club on the grounds took place on 7 June 1886 against Marylebone Cricket Club and was attended by 3,000 spectators.
- First Test match was played between England and Australia on 29-31 May 1902.
- Latest Test match was played between England and West Indies on 26–30 July 2024.
- The only Women’s One Day Internationals was played between England and Australia on 28 July 1973.
England vs India 2nd Test Betting Odds
Both punters and bookmakers have been equally invested in the series from the moment it started. The second Test match is no different than the first, in that most major betting platforms offer odds for the outcome of the match as well as other popular cricket betting markets.
At 7bet, we offer a wide range of cricket betting markets both for domestic and international events.
Please note that odds for the India tour of England – England vs India 2nd Test will be available closer to the event date.
Some of the most popular cricket betting markets include:
- Match Winner: The idea behind this bet is that bettors predict the winner of the match. Despite being the most straightforward bet, you do need to know both teams, their head to head history, and their current form really well to make an informed decision.
- Top Bowler: With this bet, bettors place their money on an individual player who they expect to take the most wickets in the game. To bet on this market, you need to be deeply familiar with the both teams’ bowlers and their skills.
- Top Batter: With this bet, bettors place their money on an individual player who they expect to score the most runs in the game. To bet on this market, you need to be deeply familiar with the both teams’ batters and their skills.
- Man of the Match: If you think you know which player will have the best overall performance during the match, you can try to place a wager on this betting market.
These being the main betting markets in cricket, punters also like to place their stakes on total runs for the team (typically presented in an over/under format), total runs odd/even, first innings overs, and others.
Odds in cricket follow the same general rules as in other sports. In the UK, betting markets are usually presented with fractional odds (e.g. 4/7). Most European countries alongside some other countries around the world tend to use decimal odds (e.g. 2.5). The United States, Canada, and several other countries use the so called American format (e.g. +120, – 150).
If you want to learn more about how cricket betting markets and odds work, we have a detailed guide just for that.
Always remember to gamble responsibly and treat betting as a form of entertainment and not means for financial gain.
