Eubank Jr. vs Benn | Date, Location & Time

  • Date: April 26, 2025
  • Location: Totten Hotspur Stadium London
  • Where to watch: Sky Sports Box Office (UK) DAZN PPV (UK & Worldwide)

A sold-out crowd at London’s massive Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will cheer on their favourite and boo their rival.

With a blockbuster bout full of both sporting and personal motivations, fans are set to be the biggest winners. Let’s look at the backstory of the Fatal Fury fight to understand why this event has captivated the British media.

A huge crowd (over 60,000 expected) will fill the stands, recreating the kind of electric atmosphere not seen since the days their fathers headlined stadiums. The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds at middleweight.

Eubank Jr. vs Benn | Backstory and Generational Family Rivalry

The Eubank vs. Benn feud is almost a part of the British boxing lore. Their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, engaged in two iconic clashes in the early 1990s

The first instalment – ‘Who’s Fooling Who?’, happened in 1990, and Eubank Sr. triumphed via TKO in the 9th. It was a brutal fight that captured the imagination of a nation

Second time out, during ‘Judgement Day’ on October 9, 1993, the ending was a bit less climactic with a SD (Split Draw) in front of 42,000 people at Old Trafford.

The drama was possible thanks to the vast differences between the two fighters and their seemingly genuine dislike for each other’s guts. Now, more than 30 years later, the feud is reborn and still going strong for the very same reason

The younger Eubank and Benn have inherited not just their fathers’ names but also a grudge that runs deep – and neither man wants to let his family down. The event is labelled Fatal Fury, and it’s a bit old-school, honestly, with no belts or titles at stake, just family honour.

The “Egg Incident” | Eubank Jr. vs Benn Buildup

This matchup was initially set for October 2022, only to collapse at the last moment when Conor Benn failed pre-fight drug tests. This was a major event in the world of UK boxing, and as we will later find out, it left Chris Eubank Jr. with a bittersweet taste. As for Conor Benn, he spent the better part of these 2 and a half years trying to clear his name.

Only in late 2024, the National Anti-Doping Panel ruled there was insufficient evidence of intentional wrongdoing on Benn’s part, and the bout was back on. Conor Benn wanted nothing more than to just leave this part behind while his opponent took the exact opposite approach.

Eubank Jr. has relentlessly provoked Benn about it. At one Manchester event, the tensions were rising, and during a faceoff, Eubank Jr. smashed a raw egg into Benn’s face, mocking Benn’s claim that “eating eggs” caused his failed tests.

Utter chaos ensued – security intervened as both men went at each other’s throats. Even Nigel Benn leapt in to defend his son. The outrageous “egg incident” – with Eubank slyly carrying an egg in his pocket just to crack it on Benn – has only intensified the bad blood.

Now, “all bets are off” in terms of civility. Both men have been trading verbal barbs and threats, so it’s no surprise that this is arguably the most hyped UK boxing match of the 2020s

Introducing the Fighters

Chris Eubank Jr. Fighting Style and Career

Chris Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs) is the older and the more experienced of the two. He is a fearsome and tactical middleweight known for a punishing right hand, ferocious uppercuts, and a flair for showmanship.

Nicknamed ‘Next Gen’, Eubank Jr. stands at about 5ft 11in with a 73″ reach, having a height and reach advantage. He has been described as an aggressive fighter, having learned a lot under the tutelage of Roy Jones Jr. Sessions with the legend improved his patience and technique, especially in close combat. Currently, Chris Eubank Jr. holds the IBO middleweight champion title.

Professionally, Eubank Jr. has faced top competition for more than a decade in the sport. He has only 3 losses. ‘Next Gen’ shockingly went down against Liam Smith in early 2023 but avenged the loss 8 months later. His other two defeats came in title fights – a close split decision to Billy Joe Saunders early in his career and a points defeat to George Groves in 2018. All other fights were victories, meaning you need to be world-class gravy to take Eubank Jr. down

As he’s bluntly put it, he plans to teach Benn a lesson and settle the family score once and for all.

Conor Benn Fighting Style and Career

In the opposite corner, we see Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (23-0, 14 KOs). He’s a 28-year-old unbeaten dynamo looking to escape his famous father’s shadow.

His father was nicknamed “The Dark Destroyer”, and his son carries on that very same legacy, adding his own thrilling style to the mix. Benn is the younger of the two fighters, but having turned pro at 19, he already has plenty of experience, bringing a polished approach to the ring.

Despite being outmatched in terms of height and reach (Benn has fought primarily at welterweight, 147 lbs), “The Destroyer” packs explosive power in both hands and is relentless, capable of overwhelming many opponents. His foot speed and all-out intensity can catch rivals off-guard, and he loves to attack the body viciously before finishing with hooks up top. Don’t blink twice when you’re watching him, or you might confuse him with Nigel Benn, his father.

Benn is coming to the fight with a perfect 23-0 record (accumulated mostly at welterweight). He has taken out a series of respected names, but moving up two weight classes to fight Eubank Jr. at 160 lbs is probably his biggest challenge yet. Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, insists Conor has been “training like a man possessed”, exuding confidence that his youth, speed and hunger will overcome Eubank’s experience.

This bout is by far Benn’s biggest test and a chance to solidify his own name in British boxing lore.

Odds and Expert Predictions for the Fight

While expert predictions may vary, it so happens that boxing bookmakers tend to favour the bigger, more experienced fighter. This is why, for the experts, Chris Eubank Jr. seemingly holds a slim edge with experts pointing at his proven track record at 160 lbs as well as the aforementioned size advantage.

Eubank’s record is very respectable. He has a knockout ratio of around 74%, instantly becoming the hardest puncher Benn will have faced in a professional bout.

On the opposite side of the ring, even though experts might label him as a live underdog, Benn has the youthful explosiveness and sheer aggression, both of which could prove to be the X-factors, capable of turning the tables. Benn has promised a fiery start, and if he delivers on his promise, an early blitz might be his best path to victory.

Ultimately, most experts ever-so-slightly favour Eubank Jr. to win, perhaps by a decision or late stoppage. Nonetheless, almost everyone agrees that this fight is far from a foregone conclusion.

It’s Time to Settle Vendettas

Everyone will be eager to see this instalment of the generational feud between the two fighter families. The culmination at Hotspur Stadium promises to be memorable, so mark April 26 on your calendars.

The event will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK, with DAZN PPV streaming internationally. Fans can also look forward to a strong undercard featuring popular names like Anthony Yarde, Lyndon Arthur, and Liam Smith. You do not want to miss it!
