Australia vs British & Irish Lions – Betting Odds

Naturally, the closing match of the tour that won’t take place again until 2037 attracts a lot of attention from rugby enthusiasts and punters. Major bookmaking platforms offer betting odds for all the popular rugby betting markets.

Below we will take a look at some of the most popular betting markets for the match between British & Irish Lions and Australia and present the current odds 7bet has to offer on these markets.

Outright Winner Odds

In this market you place your wager on a potential winner of the tournament. This betting market is often announced way before the tournament even starts, so you have the chance to place your bet early. The idea behind the bet is very simple but it requires you to be well familiar with the tournament’s history, competing teams, their current and historical stats.

Currently, 7bet doesn’t offer betting odds on this market, as the winner is obvious regardless of the outcome of the upcoming match. However you can check out other exciting markets on our website.

Match Winner Odds

As simple as it sounds, with this betting market you try to predict which team will win the current match. As in many other sports, here the teams are presented as (1) for the home team, (x) for a draw, and (2) for the away team.

This betting market is also very straightforward but requires good knowledge of the competing teams, their current physical form, any injuries, as well as their history of playing against each other.

At 7bet, we currently offer the following 1×2 rugby betting odds on the Australia vs British & Irish Lions match:

Australia (1) Draw (x) Lions (2)
14/5 25/1 2/7

Double Chance Odds

This market is very similar to the match winner but gives you a bit of a safeguard. This is because instead of betting on one of the three possible outcomes (home team wins, away team wins, draw), you bet on two out of the three results that can take place by the end of the match. If one of the two outcomes you placed your bet on happens, your bet wins:

  • Either the home team wins or the match ends in a draw (1x)
  • Either the home team or the away team wins (12)
  • Either the away team wins or the match ends in a draw (x2)

Bear in mind that while your chances to win grow, your odds and, correspondingly, payouts go lower. So consider this bet in cases when both teams are quite equally powered. If one of them has a clear advantage, this betting odds is not the best decision.

At 7bet, we currently offer the following double chance betting odds on the Australia vs British & Irish Lions match:

Australia or draw (1x) Australia or Lions (12) Lions or draw (x2)
2/1 1/33 2/11

Handicap Betting Odds

As in many other sports, handicap betting in rugby is recommended for more experienced punters. This betting market works well when one of the teams has much higher chances to win and is a clear favourite.

Instead of placing your wager on who will win, you bet on how exactly they will win the match. So for example, if you bet that Team A will win with -9 handicap, it means they have to win at least by 9 points or higher for your bet to qualify for a payout.

An interesting detail about the handicap betting market is that you can also place it on the underdog of the match. Let’s say, you bet that Team B will lose with a +9 handicap. It means they have to lose the game by 9 points or less, otherwise your bet loses too.

At 7bet, we currently offer the following handicap betting odds on the Australia vs British & Irish Lions match:

Australia +8.5 Lions -8.5
20/23 20/21

Winning Margin Odds

This is another betting market which is used when the match is heavily unbalanced in favour of one of the opponents. You bet on one of the teams to win by a certain points range. For example, if you bet that Team A will win with a 8-14 winning margin, and they end up winning with a score of 21 – 10, your bet wins because the winning margin here is 11 (i.e. within your specified range).

At 7bet, we currently offer the following winning margin odds on the Australia vs British & Irish Lions match:

Winning Margin Odds
Australia by 1 – 7 5/1
Australia by 8 – 14 12/1
Australia by 15+ 35/1
Draw  20/1
Lions by 1 – 7 14/5
Lions by 8 – 14 8/3
Lions by 15+ 13/7

Please note that the odds are accurate as per the publishing time of the article. Make sure to check the latest odds before placing a bet.

Always remember to gamble responsibly and treat betting as a form of entertainment and not means for financial gain.

Australia Team Preview

The Wallabies began the 2025 season with a match against Fiji. The teams met on 6 July at the McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, Australia. The Wallabies won 21 – 18.

However, the Test series of the current Lions tour proved to be a little less successful for the Australian team. The first two games ended in their defeat, and even if they manage to win the upcoming game on 2 August, that won’t be enough for them to win the series.

Yet, the team has quite a lineup of fixtures scheduled for the rest of the year, so hopefully they will pick up their pace and score some victories in the upcoming matches that include 2025 Rugby Championship (playing against South Africa, Argentina, and New Zealand) and 2025 Autumn Nations Series (playing against Japan, England, Italy, Ireland, and France).

Season stats for the team are presented later in the article.

New faces to look out for are Corey Toole and Nick Champion de Crespigny who will debut in a Test match for Wallabies after showing strong game in the Super Rugby Pacific seasons.

A last minute addition to the squad that was quite surprising was fly-half James O’Connor. Though O’Connor hadn’t played for Australia since 2022, this veteran player was on the squad during the last Lions tour of 2013.

British & Irish Lions team preview

The Lions seem to have a very successful 2025 season so far. Scheduled for the tour of Australia, they began with a warm up game against Argentina on 20 June. The match took place at Aviva Stadium in Dublin and was the first ever game the team played on Irish soil. It ended somewhat disappointingly with the Lions’ defeat 24 – 28.

However, this didn’t dampen the spirit of the combined British and Irish squad. They opened the Australian tour with an impressive 54 – 7 win against Western Force and continued their triumphal journey through 6 warm up and 2 Test games. With the third Test remaining, which also happens to be the last match of the tour, the Lions haven’t lost a single game so far.

Season stats for the team are presented later in the article.
