Overview of the Events

The five archery events at the Pairs Olympics were: the men’s and women’s individual recurve, the men’s and women’s team recurve, and the mixed team recurve. All five events were recurve archery competitions, conducted according to World Archery regulations at a distance of 70 meters. Each event is conducted in a single-elimination tournament format, except for the semifinal runner-ups, who competed in the bronze medal match.

The individual events began with a ranking round, where each archer shot a maximum of 72 arrows. The scores from this round determined the seeding for the elimination rounds, with archers ranked from 1 to 64 based on their performance. The top seeds faced the lowest seeds in the first round of the knockout stage.

The top four seeded teams from the ranking round advanced directly to the quarterfinal stage in the team events. The other eight teams, seeded fifth to twelfth, competed against one another for the remaining quarterfinal spots. The team event utilizes the same Archery Olympic Round set system as the individual event; however, each set comprises six arrows (two arrows per team member), and only four sets are conducted.

In the mixed team event, the top 16 seeded teams from the ranking round participated in a single-elimination bracket. Like the men’s and women’s team events, the scoring system consists of two arrows per team member, totaling four arrows per National Olympic Committee (NOC) for the mixed team. A total of four sets were played.
