Archery Women’s Team: South Korea’s Golden Reign Continues With 10th Straight Olympic Gold
The saga of the South Korean mastery continues as the women’s team defeats China to grab the gold medal for the 10th consecutive time in the history of the Olympics. The women’s team archery debuted at the 1988 Olympics and the South Korean women’s team has won every gold ever since!
Their squad of Jeon Hun Young, Lim Si Hyeon and Nam Suh Yeon, set a new mind-blowing Olympic record with a points total of 2046 against China who scored 1996. It was quite an intense match that went to a shootout but resulted in a Korean triumph.
Mexico also broke a record of winning a medal in the women’s team event after they secured bronze against the Netherlands.
Archery Men’s Team: South Korea Clinches a Golden Victory Against France
Even the South Korean men’s team clinched victory, defeating the host nation, yet again proving the Korean brilliance when it comes to archery. The French men equalised the score in the first set. But the Koreans proved difficult to conquer when one of them hit the bull’s eye in the third set
The squad of Kim Je Deok, Kim Woo Jin and Lee Woo Seok, prevailed in the second and third sets. While fans from both nations came to cheer the contenders, the hot day ended with the Korean flags flying high.
Meanwhile, Turkey claimed the bronze medal after an impressive fight against China.
Archery Mixed Team Update
The victors of the mixed team will be revealed after all the matches scheduled on 2nd August. Sih Yeon Lim and Woo Jin Kim, the gold medalists from the women’s and men’s teams will aspire to clinch the gold in the mixed team as well when they face off Chinese Taipei in the 1/8 eliminations.
